PODCAST: Is there any future for labor unions in the US? (Espresso with the Experts)

The Espresso with the Experts podcast featured two guests affiliated with the Center for Political Economy on June 30 for a discussion about “the state of U.S. labor unions today, the structural challenges facing worker organizing, and the victories of and tensions within labor movements.”

Suresh Naidu is the Jack Wang and Echo Ren Professor of Economics, as well as a professor in Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. Katy Habr is a PhD student in sociology and organizer for the Student Workers of Columbia.

During the podcast, Habr shares her experience from the historic graduate student strike at Columbia, and Naidu reflects on whether there is a future for the U.S. labor movement — and what it might look like.
