The goal of the Center for Political Economy’s Political Economy of Climate Lab seminar series is to convene faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students from various disciplines across the university to engage in discussion of emerging concepts and issues within climate change that possess a distinct political economy focus. During the Spring 2025 semester, the seminar series will focus on fossil fuel communities and how these communities are affected by and can respond to energy transition.
Can compensation for fossil fuel communities help build mass support for decarbonization efforts at the domestic and international levels? How is compensation viewed by various societal coalitions in advanced industrialized and developing countries? Nikhar Gaikwad will address these questions through a brief talk, followed by a Q&A session, and dinner and discussion.
