America/New_York
International Affairs Building, 420 W. 118 St., New York, NY 10027 Lehman Suite, IAB Room 406

On March 12, John Fabian Witt (Allen H. Duffy Class of 1960 Professor of Law, Yale Law School) will discuss his book “The Radical Fund: How a Band of Visionaries and a Million Dollars Upended America”. Witt’s book tells the overlooked history of how Charles Garland’s decision to turn down a huge inheritance to fund progressive causes helped foster radical ideas and movements that reshaped American democracy in the early 20th century.

The talk is co-hosted by Columbia University’s Department of History, the Lehman Center for American History, and the Center for Political Economy's Work and Labor Idea Lab and Knowledge and the State Initiative. A reception with light refreshments will follow the talk.
